105 Motor Speedway in ARMS Crosshairs

This weekend will see the American Racer Modified Series Presented by Day Motor Sports in action for the third time in four weekends. Slated for action in south Texas at 105 Motor Speedway in Cleveland, Texas, owners Joey Smith and Jesse McNorton are excited to bring outlaw style Modified racing back to the area.

“It's been awhile since any outlaw style cars have been here,” said Smith. “We have always viewed the Modified as a top tier hot rod and now that we have a show, it's up to us to let our fans know about and see these cars in action.”

Smith and McNorton are racers turned promoters. Noting several challenges and distinctions between each side of the fence, they are embracing the role of facilitating events currently.

“We've had to adapt and absorb and not be so singularly focused at the track. When you race all you care about is your car and what it needs. Now we have an entire facility and fans to care for.”

The duo started the venture alongside south Texas standout racer Chris Brown back in 2021. Brown has a busy schedule currently, with two young boys playing baseball, so he had to bow out of the trio. However, they have gotten their feet underneath them and put the work in.

“My last race here, it got over at four AM and there was one person left in the stands. I went to the fence and thanked them for coming and told them to have a safe trip home. I knew that couldn't continue. We try to be done about 11 and have worked on the track a lot to make it race wider. We're still in a growth phase, but we have a solid base of both racers and fans and we appreciate them!”

This will be the first ever stop at 105 Motor Speedway for the ARMS Presented by Day Motor Sports. Friday and Saturday will each be complete shows, independent of the other.

The top five in series points look like this; Joe Duvall is out front. Philip Houston holds down second, with Sam Osman narrowly in third. Chase Hatton is fourth and Kenny Gaddis sits in fifth. Chris Henigan is the most recent victor, sweeping last weekend's events in Louisiana.

Both races this weekend will be live on RacinDirt.tv and RaceOn for those unable to be at the track.
