Twin Bill on Tap for Ark-La-Tex Speedway

Back in action this weekend the USRA  American Racer Modified Series Presented by Day Motorsports is ready for two action packed shows at the land of the three wide, Ark-La-Tex Speedway. Celebrating track owner Donnie Powers' birthday, the weekend will be full of horsepower and slide jobs in Vivian, Louisiana.

It all gets underway this evening with a practice scheduled from 6-10PM. Friday the series will run for $1,500 to win and Saturday the purse climbs to $2,000 for the top prize.

Last year three ARMS shows were ran at Ark-La-Tex Speedway and Sean Gaddis won two of them. They were also his first two ever series wins.

“The first win was my first ever there at Ark-La-Tex,” said Gaddis. “It was the first place I ever raced or took laps It was a big relief to finally knock one down there. It was also only my second ever win. The caliber of competition was really tough, Mullens, Duvall, Christian, Mitchell there, among a bunch of other really good cars too. It was my youngest daughters first ever race she attended. She was a week and a half old.”

Gaddis ran 33 total shows in 2024, knocking down 12 top five performances. However, he had to wait until September for the second win.

“The second one was weight off my shoulders to do it again,” Gaddis further shared. “It showed the first one wasn't a fluke. I really think we can be in the hunt for a while. Would have been great to happen a year earlier when I was second to Duvall in points, but I will happily take them however we can get them!”

Both Sean and his legendary father Kenny field MB Customs Race Cars and have for the past 8 seasons. Both have nothing but good things to say about the MARS operation. Sean runs PTS Engines and said he has had one motor issue in 12 years.

“Growing up I was the youngest of five,” Gaddis said. “I figured I'd have to pay for it all from the beginning and it wouldn't be feasible, but my brothers and sisters all left the house and there I was. I've known I wanted to race my entire life. I went to my first race before I was a week old. I felt like I needed to do as good as my dad. He was my idol and hero, and now to race with him is so awesome!”

Gaddis attributes a lot of his more recent success to seat time and experience as a driver.

“I've grown so much as a driver in the past two seasons and am performing better than I ever have.”

He and the rest of the AMRS contingent will be out in full force this weekend. General admission tickets are $10 per night, to get out and see the best Modified racing in the region.
